Why I am Blessed

I try to remember to count my blessings every day. I have had a good life and have much to be thankful for. I had the opportunity to meet my husband and marry him at the rather young age of 19.

Where I grew up a lot of my friends and family actually married much younger. It wasn't uncommon. In fact girls were never really encouraged to do much of anything beyond high school, except to find a husband and raise children.

Now here is why I think I am lucky. Not only did I marry someone who loved me unconditionally.  He also supported me and helped rear our children when I decided I was ready to resume my education and fulfill my goal of becoming a nurse.

Was our union perfect? No. Far from it. In fact, sometimes it seemed destined to fail due to immaturity on both our parts. But it was a true blessing that together we weathered the storms. Because as we grew up and grew old together our love became something so profound and solid that I cannot imagine ever having lived my life any other way or with any other person.

Together we managed to raise 4 terrific young men that we both were, and are very proud of. And from these 4 sons and their lovely wives have come 8 beautiful grandchildren that David and I loved and love with all our hearts.

So yes I am blessed. And I remind myself of this each day. Here are my blessings in no particular order. Each unique and a beloved gift from God.
